Constable William Heath and Constable Andrew Beatty were shot and killed while waiting to serve a warrant on two suspects at the county courthouse.

One of the suspects was immediately arrested.

Constable Heath had been appointed to the position of District 6 constable only five months earlier.

His daughter, Anna Heath Gibson, born in Wilder, TN in 1897 and died in Cincinnati in 1957, was my grandmother. When Constable Heath was murdered, he left 8 children ranging from 22 years to 9 months. His wife, Mary Parsons Heath, also died in Cincinnati in 1934.
