Firefighter/Paramedic Ryan A. Hummert

Firefighter Hummert and his fellow firefighters were dispatched to a report of a vehicle fire. Unbeknownst to them, a gunman had apparently set the vehicle fire to draw responders into the scene and he was barricaded in a nearby residence. The gunman opened fire on the responders, striking Firefighter Hummert and two police officers. All were transported to a nearby hospital where Firefighter Hummert died from his injuries. Sadly, this was Firefighter Hummert's first fire after graduating from the fire academy.
