Incident
Assistant Fire Chief Haddix was operating the pumps from inside the cab of an apparatus during a vacant residential structure fire. He was observed slumped over the wheel and life-saving measures were attempted. He was later pronounced dead of an apparent heart attack.
Chief Haddix was also serving as mayor at the time of his death. He had held that position since first elected in 2004.
