Deputy Sheriff Kinser was shot and killed as he and other officers searched for two fugitives that had escaped from police in Memphis Tennessee.
Deputy Kinser and Deputy Ollie Crosswhite were searching a wooded area for the escapees. As they came into a clearing, both deputies were shot by the escapees who were hiding in nearby bushes.. Deputy Kinser died at the scene. Deputy Crosswhite was struck in the finger and leg, but managed to return fire striking both suspects.
Sadly, Deputy Crosswhite would later die in the line of duty from a gunshot wound suffered in a seperate incident on January 2, 1932.
