Officer Frank Levy was shot and killed while investigating a suspicious vehicle at 10th and John Streets.
It is suspected the murderers were members of the Brady Gang, who were also responsible for the murders of Officer Richard Rivers of the Indianapolis Police Department and Trooper Paul Minneman of the Indiana State Police. No one was ever charged with Officer Levy's murder.
Officer Levy was a veteran of the Spanish-American War.

There are 2 tributes for Patrol Officer Frank M. Levy.
I want to acknowledge Officer Levy as the second of 2 officers in Anderson, IN to lose his life in the line of duty. I do not know, nor will I ever know, how difficult the job of police officer is, but I can truly say that I am thankful to God and to the persons who felt followed, thank you.
To this day, I do all I can to help assist the police officers because of men who chose long ago to risk their lives for our freedom. I'm not sure why man feels the need to be so primitive and violent, but with law enforcement, there is more of a ballance.
Again, to officer Levy I say thank you so much, and to any of his family, I'm sure it was and sometimes still is tough. He was loved by his family, and respected by many. So, to those who say, "that was so long ago", I say, "sure, but my appreciation should never die out".
Peace be with you Frank Levy
