Paramedic Brandon Staley

Paramedic Staley and other members of his agency responded to a motor vehicle crash with four patients. The vehicles ended up some distance off the roadway in a cornfield which required each to be carried back to the road.

While providing care for two patients in the back of the ambulance while en route to the hospital, Paramedic Staley began suffering chest pain. A short time later he went into cardiac arrest. He was transported to an area hospital where he later died from an apparent heart attack.
