Incident

Officer Rolando suffered fatal injuries in a head-on collision in Mexico, Missouri, at approximately 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening. The driver of the other vehicle was also killed.

Officer Rolando was returning to the Northeast Correctional Center in Bowling Green after transporting an inmate to a medical facility for treatment.

His mother, stepfather, and other family members also work for the Missouri Department of Corrections.

I knew Kelly’s Mom before him, but knew him from before he worked for our Department. I consider myself lucky to have been his Captain as he started as a Corrections Officer.  Kelly was a good soul who did his best no matter the task.  He was proud of his position. We have lost a good man. May his spirit be reunited with his sister and his family find peace in this tragedy.  Many prayers for his family, blood and corrections alike.
