Police Officer Dale W. Mishler

Officers Dale Mishler and Jerry Green were patrolling in car number 1 at about 1:00 a.m. when they began chasing a vehicle driven by Gordon Shotts. The chase continued toward Ellettsville and at approximately 1:25 a.m., Officer Mishler lost control of the squad car while rounding the curve on Stouts creek hill and crashed. Officer Mishler was thrown from the squad car and killed instantly. Officer Green was seriously injured, suffering a head injury, internal injuries and lost his left eye. Officer Green never fully recovered from his injuries and he died on July 15, 1967 at the age of 48.
